IB商业管理IA写作的三要素分别是选题与材料，研究方法和呈现技巧。IB新考纲改革降低了呈现技巧的比重，提升了研究方法的比重。

如果把七个评分标准归类到这三要素的话不难发现，商务国际课程IA的重点考察是methodology：你准备使用哪些商业理论，工具和模型来研究问题，如何从质量参差不齐的信息和几百页的年报中筛选相关度高且优质可信的数据和信息并整合分析，通过有明确逻辑依据的论证最终得出合理且具有一定普适性的结论。这些能力的考察占IA总分的56%，而这些能力是需要通过日积月累的商业案例分析练习来培养的。

如何向IB考官充分展示你具备这些核心能力呢？首先你需要一个优质的选题。选题分为两类：描述性选题 (descriptive) 和规定性选题 (prescriptive)。

描述性选题 (descriptive)研究有关世界过去，现在或未来是什么样或怎么样的问题 (以what / how开头的问题); 

规定性选题 (prescriptive)研究世界应该是什么样的问题 (以should / could / to what extent开头的问题) 。因此，选定一个以should / could开头的research question是IA成功的一半，因为规定性选题拥有足够的空间给你向考官展示你的分析，整合，逻辑论证和总结能力；相比描述性选题由于研究方法论相对简单，很容易写成描述过多，分析不足的论文。

商业理论／工具／模型建议选择3-5个，既要有quantitative 又要有qualitative tools，其中至少有一个financial tool  (financial conditions 是一个企业的心脏，财务状况不行，企业的心脏停止跳动，企业就无法继续任何决策）。

展现你的analysis和evaluation能力三部曲：

a) 为什么你选择使用的理论是适合回答这个研究课题的。

Justify the use of this model. 

Why do you need to use this model (SWOT, Decision Tree, or Ratio Analysis) to answer your Research Question. Make it clear that you are doing a SWOT analysis because a SWOT is necessary to answer this particular question. The insights a SWOT analysis provides are essential when dealing with a question like this. Or, why must you determine the current ratio? Connect your analytical method (i.e. PEST, Decision Tree) to your RQ. Make it clear HOW this method is needed if you are to answer your question. 

b) 正确使用这个理论。 

Perform the analysis correctly. 

Fill in your model. What does the SWOT (or Decision Tree or Ratio Analysis) say? Work it out. What are the organizations Strengths, Weaknesses, etc. Write it down. Perform the analysis correctly (and carefully), showing you know the purpose of it. Be very careful to do a correct job of using the model. Fill in all of the boxes (i.e. of your SWOT), or carefully do your NPV calculations, explaining your work as you go.

c) 每种理论使用之后，得出相应的分结论，为最终得出总结论做铺垫。

Comment on your findings to reach sub-conclusions. 

Finally, after you have completed each method, comment on your findings in a way that relates directly to your Answer. Do briefly after each analysis (i.e. after your IRR calculation and after your Boston Matrix). You don’t need to tell us everything that you’ve just shown us. Just summarize the main findings which relate to your Answer. The idea is that, by the time we get to your actual final conclusion, your conclusion is actually obvious to the reader.

This makes for a good report, which would be more useful to your manager because you’ve shown the manager, step-by-step 1) Why this analysis is necessary, 2) What the analysis shows, and 3) How that analysis relates to what the Business should actually do. You have therefore made it easy to understand and more convincing.

最后，从技术层面上避开每个评分标准的扣分点，25分的满分IA就手到擒来啦。

Criterion A: Supporting documents 

Avoid using more than 5 or less than 3 supporting documents. 

Avoid using supporting documents written more than 2 years ago. 

Avoid using only one type of resources. 

Criterion B: choice and application of business tools, techniques and theories 

Avoid using only quantitative tools or only qualitative tools. 

(Quantitative tools mainly include financial statement analysis and ratio analysis.)

Avoid using tools, techniques and theories that are irrelevant to the answer of the RQ. 

Criterion C: Use, analysis and synthesis of data 

Avoid relying your analysis too much on only one supporting document. 

Avoid using data without synthesis.

Criterion D: Conclusions

Avoid irrelevant or unsupported conclusions.

Criterion E: Evaluation

Avoid unsubstantiated judgements. 

Avoid rushing into the judgements without discussion why the problem or issue exists. 

Criterion F: Presentation

Avoid exceeding the word limit 1500 words. 

Avoid citations without footnotes or endnotes that tells the sources.
