开门见山

这种写作方式要求考生在开头段第一句就根据问题表明自己的观点，之后对于这个观点进行两个理由的简单解释。这样讲有些抽象，直接举例来看：

The best way for a teacher to encourage student interest in a subject is to explain how the subject will help them outside of school.

首先第一句话我们就要表明自己的观点，也就是做出论题陈述(thesis statement)

我们可以这么写thesis statement:

I agree that the best way for a teacher to encourage student interest in a subject is to explain how the subject will help them outside of school.

接下来陈述两个理由，分别是因为：

• 如果知道这些国际课程会在现实生活中运用，学员会对他们更感兴趣
  

• 如果可以把国际课程知识和以前的知识和经验联系起来，学员会对课堂更专注

Students will be more interested in subjects taught in school if they recognize that they will need to apply them in life, and they will be more attentive to the lessons if they can associate previous knowledge and experience with the subjects being taught.

有些考生觉得是不是开门见山型写得比较简单呢？大家大可不必担心，开头段最重要的作用是表明thesis statement，而不是为了凑字数而故意增加无谓的句子。

驳斥开头

这种写作方式的确可以写出更多字数来，因为它要求考生先提出别人的观点和支持这个观点的理由，然后让步转折提出自己的观点和支持自己观点的理由。同样地，我们还是直接举例说明：

University students are often encouraged to study in fields with more job growth (science, technology, engineering, maths, etc), even if they are more interested in other fields. Which do you think you prefer?

首先我们先树个靶子，提出别人的观点和他们的理由。

In order to gain a foothold in the competitive job marketand have a potential to earn a higher salary, some people argue that students should study practical fields such us science, technology, engineering, maths.

接着我们【让步转折】提出自己的观点。

As for me,however,students should be encouraged to study fields of personal interest, since a college education helps cultivate intellectual exploration and the world today would benefit from a diversity of perspectives.
