Approaches to researching behaviour 行为研究方法

Research methods

基本上有两种研究方法，即定性和定量法。这些方法没有层次。选择的方法将取决于调查的目的和目标。没有一种方法是完美的，所有的方法都有各自的优点和局限性。研究人员将选择最适合某一特定研究的研究方法。

定性研究

定性研究会产生描述性数据（descriptive data），用于了解个人或群体行为的潜在原因、观点和动机。定性研究的目的不是确定因果关系，而是找出研究参与者自己对事件赋予的意义，较为主观。

定性研究项目通常由一个或多个研究问题来指导。研究问题不同于假设。假设是一种主张，通常来源于理论，是需要实验来检验的。它可以被接受，也可以被拒绝，是非黑即白的。这叫做演绎法，是定量研究通常使用的方法。

定量研究

定量研究强调客观测量和数据的统计分析。研究者会提前制定出变量。
