物理量就是能准确反映化学变化和物理变化的重要的基础性概念概念。

物理量是通过公式而相互联系起来的。因此可以把少数几个物理量看成是相互独立的，其他的物理量可以依据这几个量来定义。这几个相对独立的物理量，我们称之为基本物理量 (Base quantity)。ALEVEL物理真题可能会考对于这些概念的基本理解。

其余的可由基本量导出的物理量，叫做导出量(derived quantity)。在国际单位制 (SI)中，共有7个基本量。

• Mass is the amount of substance in an object. It measures the resistance to changes in state of motion of an object.
  

• Moment is the turning effect of a force about a pivot.

• Torque is the turning effect of a couple of forces.

• Momentum describes how much impact an object can make during collisions and explosions.

• Impulse describes the effect of a force in changing the momentum of an object. 
  

• Energy measures the ability of an object to make changes to its surroundings.

• Work measures amount of energy transfer via forces interaction.

• Power is the rate of energy transfer or rate of work done.

• Spring constant describes how stiff a spring is.

• Young modulus describes how stiff a material is.
